Five days, one base, and a schedule dictated entirely by the tide rather than the clock. The coast rewards that discipline more than any other part of Kenya.

The numbers

  • 248 species across 5 days
  • 6 globally threatened species
  • All four Arabuko-Sokoke specials connected with

Day 2 — the Brachystegia

Replace with your account. Clarke’s Weaver moves in fast, noisy flocks and can cross a whole stand of Brachystegia in under a minute — the trick is being in the open when they come through, not under canopy.

Day 4 — Mida on the rising tide

Two hours before high water, as always.

Logistics

Flights, forest fees, guide arrangements and where the tide tables come from.
